Emotional Intelligence 2.0

Emotional Intelligence 2.0

Emotional intelligence 2.0 by Travis Bradberry and Jean Greaves is a book that aligns with the emotional intelligence test. I did not take the test, but I think you can get a lot of valuable information from reading the book alone.

Travis and Jean show readers what emotional intelligence looks like through scenarios and testimonials. In the scenarios, you read about an individual with different emotional intelligence scores in a working environment. Then, you read what their coworkers say about them based on how they handle difficulties at work. If you have taken the test, you can compare your score to the charts provided and the scenarios. Readers also get to score themselves on self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, and relationship management. After reading the scenarios and writing down your score, the book's remainder focuses on teaching you ways to build your self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, and relationship management skills.

Self-awareness Strategies:

  • Learning your discomfort

  • keeping a journal about your emotions visiting your values

  • Seeking feedback

  • Getting to know yourself under pressure

Self-management Strategies

  • Counting to 10

  • Sleeping on it

  • Smiling and laughing more

  • Learning the valuable lesson from every encounter

  • Excepting the change is just around the corner

 Social Awareness Strategies

I recommend getting this book if you are interested in self-improvement and growing in your self-awareness.
