How to Get Organized
Organization is essential for success because it gives you more control over your time. I value organization but I still suck at staying organized. There are days when I have woken up hours late for work or driven to the wrong location for a meeting because I didn't plan ahead or write the details down. In order to combat my poor organization skills, I use these 4 tools to get my life together:
1. Google Calendar
Google calendar is a life saver because it automatically connects to my iPhone and my MAC book so I get multiple notifications for work, events, holidays and birthdays. It is sometimes annoying to have so many reminders go off on multiple devices but trust me I need it.
2. Sticky Notes
I place sticky notes on my desk and walls at home keep a running list of things I need to complete like chores or reminders. Sometimes I add sticky notes to things I've already written in my journal or planner. I also use sticky notes on my MAC book; there is a thing called Stickies on the MAC that is permanently on my desktop, reminding me of tasks I need to complete at work or for my blog.
3. Wall Calendar
I get those cute calendars from Target and pin it up on my wall next to my table. I recommend writing weekly tasks on a monthly calendar. Having a visual of what your daily tasks is helpful for planning. You will be surprised how quickly the month goes by so organizing your tasks by weeks is critical.
4. Planners
As a visual person, I need color coded and visually stimulating planners to keep my attention. Planners are useful for people who like to write things down all in one place. I struggle with planners because I forget to check them even after I've written things down, but for some, planners are the perfect tool for staying organized. I recommend getting an affordable calendar and if it works for you, upgrade to a more expensive yearly planners that has stickers, quotes and all the works in it.
I hope these tools help you stay organized
