4 Lessons from 2017

4 Lessons from 2017

2017 was a roller-coaster year, but I'm grateful for it because it signified growth for me. Looking back to how 2017 started, and how it ended, it's crazy that all my prayers were answered. Here are my top lessons from 2017

1. Go after what you want to in life

I was so stressed the beginning of the year, applying to grad programs, working a low paying job and driving a messed up car. Deep in my heart, I knew what I wanted, but I was scared that I couldn't get it. But at some point, I had enough and went after what I wanted. A few months later, I got into the program I wanted, got a new car, and got a full-time job. Of course, life won't always work out perfectly like that but I overcame many obstacles to get to where I am. All the sacrifices and hard work I did in 2016 eventually paid off. Next year, I plan on taking my goals seriously and going after what I want even more.

2. Prioritize your goals

Like I said, I got all the things I thought I wanted but I almost worked myself to the ground. I learned real quick that adulting is about prioritizing and setting healthy boundaries. I can't do everything at once or be a superwoman so for now, I need to focus on school, then worry about making money once I'm in my career.

3. My best life is outside of my comfort zone

In 2017, I began my spotlight interviews. I was so nervous about putting myself out there. I filmed my interviews in public coffee shops because I don't have a studio and I was totally out of my comfort zone because people would stare at us, and ask questions. A few interviews in, I came to realize that I'm actually really good at this interview thing. That has been the best part of blogging for far.

4. Stop letting the fear of failure hold me back

I sometimes shy away from experiences because of insecurity or lack of fear. I'm done with that. Whatever I want to do, I'll do it even if I'm scared. That's my motto for 2018.

I'm excited for the new year. Comment below and tell me what lessons you learned in 2017?
