4 Ways to Perfect and Sell Your Brand

4 Ways to Perfect and Sell Your Brand

The first definition of “brand” is the name given to a product or service from a specific source. Used in this sense, “brand” is similar to the current meaning of the word “trademark.”

Your brand is what represents the product you're selling to people. If you're a creative, your brand could be represented by your logo, online platform, signature statement, song, or body of work. Now when I say "sell" that doesn't always mean you're literally earning money from your brand, selling could mean convincing people to support your work or follow you, or subscribe to you. Branding yourself effectively is very important if you want to sell your brand. So here are 5 tips on how to sell your brand.

1. Specify your brand's purpose

What is your brand about? Do you focus on social justice, fashion blogging, jazz music or portrait photography? Whatever it is that you do, make sure it's easy to spot at first sight. This is a lesson I had to apply to my blog because there was no clear purpose for Orig1nal until I took the time to hone in on what I really wanted to accomplish through this site. In the same way, ask yourself, what is the end goal of your brand? What do you want people to walk away with when they scroll through your Instagram, read your tweets, listen to your music, read your book or buy your products? Be specific so people know what they are getting into when they come across your brand.

2. Invest in high-quality branding

Branding is the marketing practice of creating a name, symbol or design that identifies and differentiates a product from other products.

I was reluctant to pay for photo shoots, my logo, and monthly subscriptions to email lists, and editing software's, but all that stuff will pay off in the end. You do not have to spend thousands of dollars on brand designers, (unless you got the money to blow) but find experts and other creatives to help you create your brand. Don't be lazy because the quality of your brand will affect how seriously people take you.

3. Cater to a specific audience

GrtitandVirtue.com says that you should envision a specific person when you are targeting your preferred audience. What kind of people do you want your brand to read? Don't just shoot marketing strategies at a broad group of people but be intentional about whose attention or support you are trying to get. This will make your targeted audience feel understood and they will have a more authentic experience when interacting with your brand.

4. Be consistent on all platforms

This can be hard to do because different platforms cater to different people. But consistency is crucial if you want your followers to have a stress free experience with your brand. Try as much as you can to use the same username, titles and Images across all your platforms. People should not be lost or confused when they look you up cause they may get frustrated. Tweak your content depending on the platform (Instagram vs. Facebook vs. Youtube) but make sure your message, purpose and identity is consistent.

I hope this asvice helps, comment below if you have any questions. High quality branding will help you stand out, stay relevant and stay Original.
