HIM
HIM is a poetry book by Pierre Alex Jeanty who is the founder of Gentlemenhood and CEO of Jeanius Publishing. Pierre is a Haitian-American author, and poet who is dedicated to making an impact through his writing.
HIM is a beautifully transparent and eye opening book that gives us a glimpse into the male psyche. The poems provides the male perspective on love, life and personal growth. The poems that drew my attention are those that discussed male insecurity, battling toxic masculinity and dealing with relationships. I also love that the author addressed sexual abuse, suicide and bullying which are topics that are usually ignored and disregarded in the male community. It’s important that we give men a safe space to discuss their own internal battles and address the abuse they have experienced in a healthy and nonjudgemental way.

he was an escape out of your
loneliness,
your therapy for attention.
Yet here you are,
still trying to convince him that your heart is shackled to his love,
that your love existed for his
existence.

you keep throwing more empty
words to keep him from being

Pierre did an amazing job being vulnerable and transparent in his poems. I highly recommend reading this book because as we are all on the hunt for love, it’s good to fill your mind with positive representation of love. This book challenges men to seek after true love that is not superficial or physical. It also challenges women to analyze how they love the men in their lives.
